Two helpers need one written operating system
When you hire a second helper (Singapore) is the employer process for adding another migrant domestic worker to a household that already has one. First-time hire overview sits in #84. Choosing an EA sits in #105. This page owns second-helper coordination.
General guidance only. Soft MOM: mom.gov.sg. SmartMaid.com.sg is a marketplace. Licensed EAs place helpers and process Work Pass steps. Platform ≠ agency. Eligibility / levy / quota themes: verify live with EA and MOM — no rates on this page.

- This article: hiring a second helper
Step 1 — Confirm you can hire a second MDW
Ask your licensed EA to confirm eligibility and Work Pass steps for a second helper under soft MOM rules (#108). Do not invent levy or quota numbers here.
Step 2 — Split duties on paper before day one
Write who owns childcare, cooking, cleaning zones, elderly care, and nights. Avoid “both do everything” chaos (#28). Put the split on the house-rules sheet (#32).
Step 3 — Rooms, rest days, and privacy
- Sleeping arrangements that respect privacy
- Rest days that may be staggered so the home is never uncovered (#86)
- Phone / visitor rules that apply to both
Step 4 — Introduce helpers without ranking nationalities
Brief the first helper before arrival: why you are hiring a second, what stays her responsibility, and that seniority is about clarity not humiliation. No nationality stereotypes about who “should lead.”
Step 5 — One voice from employers
Co-employers align so helpers are not given opposite instructions (#120). Loop EA early if conflict appears (#26). Marketplace shortlists do not replace placement (#82).
Soft MOM
Each helper has welfare and rest-day expectations. Confirm live hiring rules on mom.gov.sg with your EA. No invented $. Platform ≠ agency.
Checklist
- EA confirmed second-helper eligibility / WP path
- Duty split written
- Rooms and staggered rest days planned
- First helper briefed before arrival
- Co-employers aligned on one voice
- No invented $; no nationality ranking; platform ≠ agency
