Settling-In Programme Scheduling: What Employers Arrange

Published 30 August 2026

A first-time helper must attend the 1-day Settling-in Programme (SIP) within 7 days of arriving in Singapore, excluding Sundays and public holidays, and she can only start work after attending. She cannot attend on the day she arrives. The employer books and pays: MOM lists fees of $76.40, $77.00 and $92.65 (including GST) across its three appointed providers. Book early, as soon as you know her arrival date.

Who must attend

First-time helpers, meaning anyone who has never worked in Singapore as a helper. MOM tells you in the in-principle approval (IPA) letter whether your helper needs the SIP. Source: MDW eligibility.

What employers arrange

  1. Book a slot with one of MOM's appointed providers once you know her arrival date. MOM advises registering early to secure a slot within the 7-day window.
  2. Pick a date after arrival day. She is not allowed to attend on the day she arrives, so she has time to rest.
  3. Pay the fee. MOM says SIP fees are borne by the employer.
  4. Prepare her documents: the full IPA letter, her passport, a copy of her educational certificate, and a copy of her ICA digital arrival card.
  5. Plan transport to the training centre and back.

MOM's appointed providers and fees

  • Absolute Kinetics Consultancy: $76.40
  • NTUC LearningHub: $77.00
  • Grace Management & Consultancy Services: $92.65

All fees include GST. The course is 1 day, in her native language, and covers adapting to life and work in Singapore, conditions of employment, working safely, and managing relationships and stress. Source: Settling-in Programme (SIP) for first-time MDWs.

How the SIP fits the first two weeks

  • SIP within 7 days of arrival, excluding Sundays and public holidays.
  • Medical examination within 14 days of arrival.
  • Get the Work Permit issued within 2 weeks of arrival.
  • If you used an agency, MOM says the agency should only place her after she has attended the SIP, and the safety agreement is signed after the SIP and before she starts work at your home.
