Many first-time migrant domestic workers in Singapore must attend the Settling-In Programme (SIP). Employers should plan time and logistics around SIP scheduling soon after arrival.
What SIP covers
SIP introduces helpers to Singapore employment rules, safety, and local living basics. It is a mandatory programme for many first-time MDWs — not optional orientation your family provides alone.
Employer coordination tasks
Agencies usually arrange SIP enrollment within MOM timelines. Employers ensure the helper completes medical checks and attends sessions on schedule.
After SIP completion
Continue home orientation with clear house rules, rest-day plans, and emergency contacts. Combine official SIP learning with your household-specific routines.
