Settling-in is a month — not only the first fortnight
First-month settling-in with your MDW (Singapore) is the four-week process map after she starts: get through orientation, lock sustainable routines, and decide whether the household is stable enough to continue without early EA escalation. Day-one execution sits in #33. The living-together fortnight map sits in #16. Scheduled review conversations sit in #45.
General guidance only. Soft MOM: mom.gov.sg. SmartMaid.com.sg is a marketplace. Licensed EAs place helpers. Platform ≠ agency.

- This article: weeks 1–4 settling-in process
Week 1 — Orient and reduce surprises
Run day-one properly (#33), then keep instructions short and repeatable. If she is new to Singapore, align SIP timing with your EA (#17). Goal: she knows access, emergencies, meals, and the first rest-day plan.
Week 2 — Routines before perfection
Use the fortnight map (#16): one feedback chat mid-fortnight, fix the top two friction points only. Do not stack a month of complaints into week 2.
Weeks 3–4 — Lock the sustainable pattern
This is where many households fail: the “tourist mode” of week 1 fades and unspoken expectations return.
- Confirm rest-day rhythm in practice (not only on paper)
- Stabilise grocery / meal / laundry loops
- Keep trust and standards in the same conversation (#44)
- Hold the scheduled first-month performance chat (#45)
Settling looks healthy when…
- Duties are predictable without daily re-briefing
- Small mistakes are corrected once and stick
- Rest day and sleep are respected
- She asks clarifying questions instead of guessing wrong
Loop the licensed EA when…
- Safety, welfare, or serious misconduct concerns appear
- The same core duty fails after clear coaching
- Either side wants an early transfer / replacement discussion
How to loop early: #26. Marketplace ≠ agency — SmartMaid does not replace EA aftercare.

Scripts
To helper (week 3): The first two weeks were for learning the house. This week we lock the normal routine: [rest day], [dinner nights], [laundry day]. Tell me what is still unclear.
To EA: We are in week [N] of settling-in. Issues so far: [list]. We want coaching advice / early options — not a surprise cancellation.
Bottom line
Treat settling-in as a full first month: orient, routine, then review. Browse on SmartMaid; place and aftercare through a licensed EA under soft MOM rules.
