MOM says a Work Permit application in FDW eService is processed within 1 week, or within 3 weeks by online form, but it can take longer when MOM needs more information. If MOM asks you for documents, reply quickly through the channel MOM specifies. The outcome is emailed to the address on the application, and you can log in to check status. MOM's published pages do not list one fixed set of extra documents, so send exactly what the request names.
What MOM already asks for at application
- The helper's passport details.
- Your and your family members' personal particulars.
- Your income information. Married couples can combine incomes.
- Her written consent to the Work Permit application.
- For the online form route: the completed form and the supporting documents listed in it.

Why MOM may want more
MOM's employer requirements say it considers care-giving needs, such as young children or elderly family members, and your financial ability to hire, maintain and house a helper. It also lists medical conditions that could affect your ability to supervise a helper. Requests often relate to these. Source: Employer requirements for hiring an MDW.
How to respond
- Read the request closely and note the deadline and submission channel.
- Send clear, complete scans. Label each file with what it is.
- If your address changed recently, check your NRIC address matches. MOM says helpers work at the employer's NRIC-registered address.
- If an agency is handling your case, make sure you have authorised it in FDW eService. Requests lapse if you do not respond within 7 days.
- Check your email and the status page until the outcome arrives.
If the application is rejected anyway
Read the rejection advisory in FDW eService for the reasons. You can appeal within 45 days from the date of application (not on the same day), with up to 5 supporting documents. MOM says 90% of appeals are processed within 2 weeks, and only the employer or the agency that applied can appeal. Source: Appeal against a rejected application.
