If your helper's Work Permit application is rejected, start with the rejection advisory in FDW eService, which gives the reasons and next steps. You have 45 days from the date of application to appeal, but not on the same day you applied, and MOM says an appeal only changes the outcome if you bring new information or have fixed the reason for rejection. 90% of appeals are processed within 2 weeks. Miss the 45 days and you must submit a new application.
Step 1: read the rejection advisory
Log in to FDW eService and open the rejection advisory. It explains why and what you can do next. Sign-in help: FDW eService login guide.
Step 2: decide whether to appeal
- Appeal if you have new information or documents that answer the reasons given.
- Only the prospective employer or the agency that submitted the application can appeal. MOM does not process appeals from the helper or anyone else.
- Appeal within 45 days from the date of application, but not on the same day as the application.
Step 3: submit the appeal
- Click "Appeal" in FDW eService.
- Explain your reasons. Upload up to 5 supporting documents.
- Watch for MOM contacting you for clarifications.
- Check the status in FDW eService and print the outcome letter. The outcome is also emailed to the address on the application.

Common things to check before reapplying
- Your eligibility: MOM requires employers to be 21 or older, not an undischarged bankrupt, and with the mental capacity to discharge their duties. It also considers care-giving needs and financial ability. See Employer requirements.
- Her eligibility: MOM requires helpers to be female, aged 23 to below 50 at application, from an approved source country, with at least 8 years of formal education with a recognised certificate. See MDW eligibility.
- Frequent changes of helpers: MOM has rules on employers who change helpers often. See Frequent changes of MDWs.
- Unpaid levy: MOM blocks new Work Permit applications when levy is unpaid.
If the helper is waiting overseas
Tell her and her agency straight away. She cannot come to Singapore without an in-principle approval letter. If you work with an agency, ask about its terms when an application fails.
