When your helper gets a new SIM card or phone number, updating a few records keeps her reachable by you, your agency and MOM. It takes minutes and avoids missed messages about interviews, medical examinations or renewals.
What MOM's notification rules cover
MOM's page on notifying changes for migrant domestic workers lists the updates employers must make, including:
- Your own contact details, such as your email address and mobile number, through FDW eService.
- Your residential address, within 2 weeks of a change.
- Your helper's personal particulars, such as her name or passport details.
- Salary reductions, pregnancy, a missing helper and other situations.
The page does not set a separate deadline for the helper's own phone number. Where an eService asks for her number, for example during a renewal, always give the current one.
A simple checklist when her number changes
- Update your household records and your phone contacts.
- Tell your employment agency, which may contact her for post-placement checks.
- Update any form MOM sends her, such as notices about interviews at the Centre for Domestic Employees or house visits, so she does not miss them.
- Check her SGWorkPass access. Her digital work pass is linked to her Singpass; if she changed phones, help her log in again.
- Update your insurer or clinic if they hold her number for claims or appointments.
Why it matters
MOM contacts helpers for interviews, surveys and house visits, and agencies call them for checks in the first months. A helper who misses these messages may worry that she is in trouble, and you may have to reschedule. A current number also matters in emergencies, for example if she is unwell on her rest day.
Phones and good practice
- Agree a phone policy in writing: when she can use her phone during work, and who pays for data.
- Allow her to contact her family; MOM encourages open communication to help with homesickness.
- Avoid holding on to her phone. It is her personal property.

Setting up a new phone smoothly
If the new number comes with a new phone, set aside half an hour on her rest day or an evening. Help her move her contacts and messaging apps, log in to Singpass and the SGWorkPass app, and save your number, your agency's number and the emergency numbers. Ask her to message you once everything works, so you both know the new number is correct. If she shares a family plan or prepaid card you provide, agree who tops it up and when.
Common questions
Do I need to tell MOM when my own number changes?
MOM asks employers to update their email and mobile number in FDW eService, so reminders about renewals and medical examinations reach you.
Can my helper update her own details?
She can manage her digital work pass in the SGWorkPass app. Employer-side records, such as your contact details, are updated by you or your agency.
