Saving Shortlists for Spouse and Family Review

Published 28 August 2026

Choosing a helper is usually a family decision. One person may do the searching, while a spouse, parent or older child wants a say before anyone contacts an agency. SmartMaid's shortlist tools make that review easier.

Build a shortlist as you search

On Search maids, filter by nationality, skills, experience, language and transfer status, then add promising biodata to a shortlist. Log in with a free account to save shortlists and come back to them later.

Each saved helper keeps the search criteria she matched, which helps you remember why she stood out when you return to the list days later.

Share it with your family

  • Share link: every saved shortlist has its own share link. Send it to your spouse or family so they can view the same helpers.
  • Share by email: enter a family member's email address and SmartMaid sends them the link.
  • Several lists: keep separate shortlists, such as "infant care" and "elderly care", and give each a clear title.

Add notes as you review

Add remarks to each helper, for example "good cooking experience" or "ask about night feeds". Notes help the whole family compare helpers on the things that matter to you.

A simple family review process

  1. Agree the must-haves first: care needs, languages, cooking and rest day arrangements.
  2. Shortlist five to ten helpers who meet them.
  3. Share the list and ask each person to note their top three.
  4. Compare side by side: use the compare view to look at experience and skills together.
  5. Contact the agencies for your final two or three to arrange interviews.

Check availability before you decide

Biodata can change quickly, especially for transfer helpers already in Singapore. Your shortlist separates helpers who are still available from those who are not, so check it before arranging interviews.

Questions for the interview

  • What did her previous work involve day to day?
  • How would she handle a situation that matters to your family, such as a toddler's tantrum or an elderly parent's fall?
  • What does she hope for in her next job?

Let the family member she will care for most join the interview where possible, and agree afterwards who will give the agency your decision.

Next steps

When you have chosen, the licensed agency on the biodata guides you through the Work Permit application. If you have not found the right match, send a hiring request so agencies can suggest helpers, or browse licensed agencies. First-time employers can read our first-time employer guide.

Common questions

Do family members need an account to view my shortlist?

They can open the share link you send them. Creating an account is only needed to save and manage your own shortlists.

Can I keep more than one shortlist?

Yes. Keep separate lists for different needs and give each a clear title, so everyone knows which list to review.
