When you move house, MOM needs your new address, because your helper works and lives at your registered residential address. The good news is that you update your own address, and her workplace address follows automatically. It is a short task, but easy to forget in the middle of a move.
Step 1: update your residential address within 2 weeks
MOM asks employers to update their residential address within 2 weeks of moving. How you do it depends on who you are:
- Singapore citizens and permanent residents: update your address with ICA through its eService.
- Employment Pass, S Pass, Dependant's Pass or MOM-issued Long-Term Visit Pass holders: update it through MOM's EP eService.
- ICA-issued Long-Term Visit Pass holders: use "Edit my Profile" in FDW eService. MOM gives the outcome within 7 working days.
Step 2: her workplace address updates automatically
Once your address is updated, your helper's workplace address is updated automatically. MOM then posts an acknowledgement letter to your new address within 2 weeks. Keep it with your helper's documents.
Step 3: check your contact details
While you are updating records, check that your email address and mobile number in FDW eService are current, so MOM's notices reach you after the move.
Moving-day checklist
- Update your residential address as above.
- Confirm the new home suits her: a sleeping space with privacy, ventilation, safety, and a mattress, pillow and blanket, as set out in MOM's guidance on accommodation.
- Tell your insurer if your policy lists the address.
- Tell your employment agency if it is still supporting your household.
What about the Work Permit card?
You do not need to replace the card just because you moved. According to MOM, your helper can see the updated address in her digital work pass on the SGWorkPass app. If you prefer a card without the old address, you can apply for a replacement card, which carries a fee.
Levy concession after a move
If you receive the levy concession because a young child, an elderly parent or a person with disabilities lives with you, the concession depends on that person sharing your registered address. If they are not moving with you, check whether your concession still applies. See our MDW levy and concession guide.
Helping your helper settle into the new home
- Walk her through the new layout, exits and any fire safety points.
- Show her how the new appliances, water heater and gas work.
- Point out the nearest clinic, market and transport for her rest day.
- Give her the new address in writing, with a nearby landmark, in case she needs to tell a taxi driver or call for help.

Common questions
Can my agency update the address for me?
Many agencies help with paperwork. The address update itself is made through ICA, EP eService or FDW eService depending on your pass, so check which applies to you.
Does my helper need to do anything?
She can check the new address in her SGWorkPass app. Let her know the new address and nearest landmarks before moving day.
